Maddison Smith, a junior at Calhoun Falls Charter School, daughter of Stephen and Tonya Edmunds was one of two students from the local area selected to attend the Washington Youth Tour sponsored by the Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina and Little River Electric Cooperative this summer. Maddison will be flown to Washington DC where she will join a large group of students from all across South Carolina. They will spend the week touring our capitol city and learning more about the function of cooperatives. To qualify, students submitted an application consisting of several essay questions about the cooperative and about themselves. A panel of judges selected a group of finalists and invited them for an interview. The finalists were asked questions about their past experiences, plans for the future and their knowledge of the Cooperative, and they were judged on the basis of their school and community involvement and communication skills.
It is a distinct honor to be selected for this Youth Tour, and we are very proud of Maddison.
Congratulations Maddison – I know Tonya is very proud of you and we are too!
